Neil Khot Shares His Vision for Illinois 8th District at Community Forum

Longtime resident outlines plans for economic renewal, women’s rights, supporting working families,, protecting seniors and protecting democracy

ELGIN, IL. – At a community forum hosted by Indivisible on Tuesday evening, Democratic congressional candidate Neil Khot spoke directly with voters about his priorities for Illinois 8th District and why he is running for Congress.

Khot opened by talking about his 30 years as a resident of the district and how much this community has shaped his life. As a first generation immigrant who came to the United States with $300, he said he is running to give back to the community and the country that gave him everything. After building successful businesses in Illinois, he told attendees he plans to use that experience to help attract new employers to the district and rebuild the local economy.

Key Priorities Discussed at the Forum
Audience questions focused on the economy, women’s rights, immigration, and the cost of living. Khot highlighted several core goals for his campaign, including:

• Using his business background to help bring jobs back to the district after losing major employers such as Motorola, Ameritech and Sears under previous leadership.
• Supporting working families by lowering costs, protecting Social Security and Medicare, and ensuring every family has a fair chance at the American Dream.
• Defending reproductive freedom and protecting every woman’s right to make her own health care decisions.
• Advancing smart and humane immigration reform that expands legal pathways while strengthening border systems.
• Standing up to political extremism, protecting voting rights, and rebuilding trust in government.

Putting IL 08 First
Khot told attendees that public service is his way of honoring the community that welcomed him three decades ago. “This district gave me every opportunity to build a life here,” he said. “Now I want to fight for the people who call this place home and build an economy that gives everyone the chance to succeed.”
