MEET NEIL
Community Advocate.
Local Business Owner.
First-Generation American.
Neil Khot knows that in the 8th District, nothing is handed to you – you have to earn it. He’s spent his life doing the hard work, from his first years in this country to his years as a community organizer on the ground. Neil is running for Congress because he’s fed up with watching the people who built this country get squeezed by high costs and ignored by politicians in Washington. He’s not looking for a title; he’s looking to take his experience as a fighter for this community to Congress and finally deliver the results our community deserves.
The Courage That Launched a Journey
Neil was born in Belgaum, India, into a lower-middle-class family. After his father passed away when Neil was young, he was raised by a single, widowed mother whose unwavering courage became the foundation of his life.
Neil saw his mother struggle firsthand with the complexities of the Medicare system and the high cost of care. Those struggles are why Neil’s fight to protect seniors is personal. In Congress, he will be a tireless advocate for ensuring our seniors have access to the benefits they have earned and the quality care they need.
- FROM $300 TO A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS
- Neil arrived in the United States in December 1997 with just $300 in his pocket and a single opportunity. He knows what it means to start from the bottom and chase a dream with nothing but grit. Through hard work, he built successful, socially responsible businesses that created hundreds of jobs across Illinois. As a local business owner, Neil understands that the cost of living is out of control. He has seen how the Trump administration’s tariffs have made life more expensive for our families. Neil knows how to bring costs down and will work to replace the economic pillars we’ve lost, bringing high-quality jobs back home to our district.
- AN ACTIVIST FOR THE 8TH DISTRICT
- For Neil, giving back isn't a campaign slogan—it’s a way of life. When the pandemic hit, Neil didn't wait for permission to lead; he stepped up to provide critical resources for immigrants and vulnerable neighbors who were left behind by the system. As a first-generation immigrant, Neil understands the challenges those coming to our country face. He is committed to ensuring our community remains welcoming to all our neighbors. He is appalled by the militarization of our cities and will fight to put a stop to the threat of ICE here in Illinois.
- A CHECK ON POWER We are living in a time of unprecedented division. Republicans in the House have all but given the reins over to Donald Trump, refusing to act as a check on his power. Neil Khot will be the fighter we need to combat abusive tactics that divide us. He will stand up to the Trump administration to protect our priorities, safeguard our healthcare, and ensure that the 8th District has a representative who answers to the people—not to a party leader.
- ROOTED IN OUR COMMUNITY Neil’s journey led him to make the 8th District his permanent home, where he married, started a family, and is raising his son. His family and our campaign are deeply invested in supporting our schools, local businesses, and neighborhoods. Neil is running for Congress because he believes every family in our district deserves the same safe, stable, and opportunity-rich future that he wants for his own family.
- This campaign is about us—coming together to reclaim the American Dream for the 8th District.
