Neil Khot Secures Top Ballot Spot in IL-08 Democratic Primary
SCHAUMBURG, IL – Neil Khot, a first-generation American and Democratic candidate for Congress in Illinois’ 8th District, will appear first on the ballot in the March Democratic primary.
Following the official candidate-filing lottery conducted by the Illinois State Board of Elections, Khot’s name was drawn first after his team waited overnight outside the filing office to ensure early submission. Under state law, candidates filing simultaneously enter a random drawing to determine ballot order.
Khot’s campaign also turned in 3,652 signatures – more than four times the required number and the most of any candidate – and received no petition challenges, demonstrating the campaign’s strong organization and grassroots momentum.
“Being first on the ballot is both an honor and a responsibility,” Khot said. “It reflects months of hard work, volunteers standing in the cold, and the faith voters have placed in this movement for fairness, opportunity, and the American Dream.”
