CHICAGO, IL – The parents of 36-year-old Schaumburg resident Lisa Shah are relieved to share that their daughter has been located and is safe. Lisa is currently checked into a Chicago area hospital, and her family is focused on her health and recovery.
Ashwin and Ina Shah are available for interviews to briefly share their relief that Lisa has been found. They are asking the public and media to respect their privacy regarding additional details at this time.
Earlier in the search, Congressman Danny K. Davis (D-2) and IL-08 Congressional candidate Neil Khot announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to Lisa’s safe return. Lisa had last been seen in Garfield Park on Friday, October 17, after being released from the psychiatric unit at GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights.
Khot, a Schaumburg resident and long-time community advocate, played a key role in helping locate Lisa by working closely with her parents, law enforcement, and community networks. He helped hire a private investigator, supported the public awareness effort, and assisted the family as tips came in.
“I have always believed that when a neighbor is in crisis, we show up for one another,” said Khot. “I am grateful Lisa is safe and that her parents can hug their daughter again. My focus will always be on helping families in our community get through their hardest days, not just their best ones.”
Garfield Park is in Congressman Davis’ district. Lisa lives with her parents in Schaumburg, which is in the 8th Congressional District. Earlier coverage of Lisa’s disappearance and the reward announcement, including interviews with Neil and Lisa’s parents, aired on WGN-TV.
